TBRC Affiliates
TBRC offers a wide variety of programs to meet the diverse needs and interests of the community. These programs provide an opportunity for all age groups to participate in structured activities which encourage health, wellness, life enrichment, and personal development.   • Alpena Spirit Cheerleading
    • Alpena Spirit is a non-profit competitive tumble and cheer program offered to girls from ages 5 years to 17 years old. The program is offered in the Alpena, MI area. All instructors are employed on a volunteer basis and all program fees are only collected for program materials only. Alpena Spirit practice twice weekly at Thunder Bay Recreation Center Gym.

  • Intramurals
    • Intramurals offers activities for men, women and co-recreation interaction and competition. Sports sponsored include: basketball, dodgeball, wiffleball, table tennis, badminton and volleyball. The TBRC is also home to various corporate intramurals including Besser Company and LaFarge corporate volley ball.

  • Kids Night Out
    • Kids Night Out is designed to promote parent and child interaction. Kids can bring toys from home or use equipment here at Thunder Bay Recreation Center. Call for dates and times.

  • Massage Therapy by Roger
    • Ease the tensions of everyday life with a therapeutic massage. Stress relief, relaxation & deep tissue massage are also available in a relaxing setting within TBRC at an affordable rate.   • Northern Tiger Karate Club
    • The objective of the Northern Tiger Karate Club is to promote Martial Arts as a life-enriching experience for its members and a positive influence on the community. If you are interested in trying a class before you join, we offer 2 FREE CLASSES at the beginning of each enrollment month. And yes, you can attend both FREE CLASSES as long as you are 8 years or older! Wear comfortable workout clothes and bare feet. Call 989 884-3222 or go to ntigerkarate.com for more information.

  • Ready, Set, Serve!
    • A program geared toward teaching all sixth graders how to play tennis. ALL sixth graders in Alpena County includes all public, parochial, charter, special needs and home schoolers. For the 2007-08 school year, over 420 students took part in the opportunity to learn tennis and play the game on four indoor courts at Thunder Bay Recreation Center. Equipment will be provided to the schools as well, so the remaining grades will begin to learn the game, as well.
